A Valentine’s Treat

Roses are a classic Valentine’s treat.

flowers or treats

what opens your hidden gate

would you share the codes

I’ll whisper sweet songs

dance to a funky beat

create a fine feast

or write lame poetry

if only you’ll be mine

~

Or maybe some pink peonies?

My romantic side has been quiet for so long, my parts are rusty and out of shape. It’s been too easy to settle into comfortable routines that don’t risk loss or change. I’d like to awaken my heart and find the motivation to reach out. Poetry, flowers, and spring are a good start for me. With my mother’s estate almost settled, things are shifting and I can see hints of possibility. Of course, love doesn’t have to be romantic or even with a person, but I’d sure like some female companionship. Feel free to send your Valentine’s wishes and phone numbers! 😋

  15. Brad, your poem has me smiling and I almost feel like bopping away! Great news that you are feeling more positive and finding time to think of yourself and the way forward. I am sure you will find the companionship sooner than you think! I met my husband a month after I’d totally given up on men – it had been a tough few years! In Sweden Valentines Day is ‘Everyone Heart’s Day’ celebrated between, parents, children, friends and yes, also romantic love. As a friend I wish you a very special day! 😀
