Warm Colors – Challenge #285

This week Edigio challenged the lens artists to explore warm colors and how they affect us. Colors can affect our moods and well-being; everything from our clothes, home decorations, rooms, and nature. There is a long history of color being used therapeutically.

“Color is a power which directly influences the soul.” ~ Wassily Kandinsky

Here is my collage of warm colors to explore and enjoy.

Autumn is filled with warm colors; a diverse pallet of yellows, tans, oranges, and reds mixed to various hues depending on the type of trees and the stage in the season. Nature is a wonderful artist if we take the time to notice.

I like this Ozark landscape for its muted and soothing pallet of autumn colors.

This crape myrtle branch is glowing with warm golden goodness.

Flowers offer an endless rainbow of colors. Their bright warm colors make me happy, along with the birds and bees! Nature can use color to signal pollinators.

This is one sexy iris, showing off its fancy colors and pollinator parts!

Here is a rose from my garden, dripping with warmth, rain, and sensuality.

Usually, I love sunsets with dramatic colors and layers, but this one grabbed me for its simplicity.

May the colors of nature warm your heart and soothe your soul.

  1. Oh, yeah! You have so many wonderful photos to demonstrate how color can touch our souls, Brad. And color guides/influences so many vital activities — such as pollination — here on planet earth. Thank you! Deep breath (of color and beauty) in. Deep breath (of fear and judgementalness) out.

  2. Brad, first of all, thank you for joining the challenge. Your photos are gorgeous. Those macros have such level of detail. Two images, in particular, grabbed my attention: the Ozark landscape and the sunset (the last photo). Gosh, they are stunning! Thanks for sharing these photos.

  4. The detail in your photographs is always so impressive. The ones you took of your flowered are particularly spectacular. Wow. It’s too bad autumn doesn’t last longer, there’s something so special and soothing about it. I always make sure to enjoy it while it lasts. Have a great day, my friend. Big colourful HNS 💕

  5. This post warms me on a cold February day… and I can understand how color therapy is used to boost the spirit. I think my desire to witness sunrises and sunsets, no matter the difficulty doing so creates, is based within the incredible uplifting spirit the colors give. It makes your poem a perfect companion: “a soothing pallet, warm and inviting colors, dance across my heart…” I couldn’t say it any better. Beautiful post, and it also made me realize I’ve never seen the Ozarks, and how lovely they would be in the autumn. Cheers to you, and I hope the year of the Dragon is a healthy, happy, and adventurous one for you. 新年快乐,龙年吉祥!🐉 🐲

  6. This is such a heartwarming post, Brad. Great take on the challenge. Agree that colours can affect our moods and well-being. For me, I know I like a mix of pastel and neutral colours in my home and the way I dress. That makes me feel me.

‘dance across my heart’ is such a clever way of describing how certain colours make us feel good. Beautiful vivid, colourful photos. The last one of the sunset is my favourite. Such a stunning yellow sky and wonderful capture. I hope you are doing well 😊

  7. You ar so right Brad. Nature is a lovely artist if we take time to notice. Your photos dance across my heart too. I loved the warmth of autumn in the Ozarks, and I agree with you the last one is simple, but it is also powerful in its simplicity. Have a good weekend.
