I chose to write a cinquain; a five-line poem with a syllabic count of 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2.
This week’s poetry challenge from Colleen asked us to use a line from a summer song as inspiration for our verse along with the kigo word “summer”. I chose “Summer Love” by One Direction, mostly for the song title and association with the relatively brief romance of summer flowers. They come and go like a hot romance that flames out after one season. Although I never tire of flowers, they only stay for a short time. They remind me to enjoy the moment and whatever beauty I find.

Wow, your flower photos are beautiful including delicate raindrops and a lone insect! Flowers are here for a short time and it behooves us to get out there and take it all in! And you’ve done just that, Brad…
