Summer Love

This yellow Calla Lily shines with summer love to me.

Orange coneflowers (echinacea) radiate with the color of passion.

I chose to write a cinquain; a five-line poem with a syllabic count of 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 / 2.

This week’s poetry challenge from Colleen asked us to use a line from a summer song as inspiration for our verse along with the kigo word “summer”. I chose “Summer Love” by One Direction, mostly for the song title and association with the relatively brief romance of summer flowers. They come and go like a hot romance that flames out after one season. Although I never tire of flowers, they only stay for a short time. They remind me to enjoy the moment and whatever beauty I find.

Yellow Daylily with raindrops. They have already come and gone.

To summer love and enjoying the moment.

  1. Yes, flowers are a spectacular feature of nature.

    Lovely post and poem Brad!

Beyond flowers, Love (& Peace) is the theme we need this summer and beyond.

    Gorgeous shots, thank you!
