Yes, this beauty really is the blossom of a plant called the Sensitive Briar (Mimosa microphylla). The smooth-leaf Sensitive-briar is a member of the pea family with leaflets that are sensitive to touch and fold up upon contact, at night, or during storms. However, beware of her sprawling stems which are loaded with hooked prickles. Regardless of her name and shy sensibilities, she’s a stunning beauty. Thanks to my friend Gayle Fetick for capturing her beautiful blossoms.

May your day be full of beautiful surprises!
