I want people to see how amazing and beautiful these tiny organisms are! ~ Alison Pollack

fantastic fungi

Photographer Alison Pollack reveals the amazing world of fungi literally hidden beneath our feet. She strolls around the forest looking for tiny bits of color from small fungi. Then she uses a powerful macro lens and stacking technique to compile images of these tiny treasures. Wow!. Her photos have stoked my imagination and desire to wander the forest looking for hidden treasures like these fungi. This aligns with my growing interest in macro photography. I might even buy a real camera and macro lens so I can further explore these beautiful tiny worlds.

May we look deeper to discover the beauty in our lives.

  1. I like everything about Fungi, and after reading your recent posts, I appreciate them even more, Brad. Wonderful haiku. Somewhere in my photos I have a photo of one of the most unusual fungi I have seen. It was on a trail in the Winter on Long Beach many years ago. The type of mushroom an elf sits on, with little red drops on top – almost like drops of blood. I will search for it. A great post, Brad.

  2. Amazing color blue and the brown ones look like a tuba band playing 🙂 You can’t beat the wonders of nature! We all need to keep connected to nature and the wonders of the forests. Instant anti-depressant! VK

  4. I was briefly watching something shallow on TV and then looked at your blog which is so rich and real. Thank you for your insight. I’m glad you are here, Brad. “May we look deeper to discover the beauty in our lives.” That’s just what I needed to read.

  5. Such a great way to look at life…that there is so much we miss if we only look to what is on the surface. These photos are amazing and the idea that we might be stomping on these beauties…kind of hurts!
I hope you do explore this new passion of yours, Brad! I say go for it. You seem to “see” what is hidden to most and you pair words that suit them. I think you are on to something!
Hope you have a great week!
