Grace and Hope

Grace and Hope

These two words are at the core of what I would call a spiritual life.

Holy Days

I want to make room for more grace and hope in my heart. For the holidays and new year, I intend to create more time and space for grace, quiet, and contemplation. I spend a lot of time alone, but very little of it in quiet stillness. I miss that sweet connection with the undefinable mystery of life that many call God.

Here is a post I wrote many years ago about grace called Stumbling into Grace. I still feel much the same. I have a great desire for grace and yet very little faith as fertile soil for grace to grow. It’s interesting to see how many times I’ve posted about grace. Here’s another one called All I Want for Christmas is Grace. It’s clearly a strong and elusive topic in my life.

May you be touched by grace these holidays and throughout the year.

Thank you for being part of this wonderful community on WordPress. Many of you have become friends and supporters. I’m very grateful for your presence in my life and blog. I wish you a season of peace and a year of thriving.

Happy Holy Days,

Blessings, Brad

  1. I think often those of us who yearn for some kind of faith have the kind of questioning minds that mean it’s difficult to have that faith. It would be simple and a relief to have a straightforward faith that could be found in a church or other obvious place, but instead my faith is in the world around me and sometimes, just sometimes, I experience that grace – usually through the landscape.

  2. Grace is my all time favourite. Forgiven and saved, for no other reason but God’s Grace. Something we rarely feel deserving of, but allso desperately need.

Thank you for sharing this pattern in your writing Brad plus links to these beautiful posts.

You, Brad, are one of the most humble writers I know. You give us all Grace. With every word. Every photo. Every post. 🙏💙

  3. Beautifully written post, Brad, and a wonderful concept.
To me you sound like you frequently inhabit the space of grace. Your dream to find more time
and space is a loving one. You will reach your goal, meanwhile keep sharing what you already found.
    Bless

  4. Brad, this is beautiful- perfect, really. The word grace always touches my soul and grounds me. It conjures up feelings as ethereal as they are grounding- a sense of hope and knowingness at the same time. I guess grace feels like God for me. I too need to make more space for grace in my day-to-day. Thank you for the reminder. You are a gift, and I’m better for knowing you. I hope your holidays are filled with love, peace…and grace. H & S.

  5. Fear Brad
Isn’t grace the whole life? I think, we can’t be without grace, we live in grace. All the time. If we know it or not. It makes no difference: grace is, what is. In us, with us, around us, all the time.
I am happy to have you as a supporter and friend and wish you the grace to recognize the love and friendliness which you are for all of us.
    Merry Christmas, dear Brad.

  6. Brad, I am grateful for you, also! Just did a one-week-technology break and can totally relate to your desire for more true stillness. My own experience has been that the more I worked on releasing certain things/ like knots in my inner life, the more grace could flow into my life. I am certain it is there for every single one of us. Of course, this is only my experience, but I thought I´d share it because you speak so longingly of grace, and I can certainly relate to this need to have grace as a source of energy and love in my life. Big hugs and wishing you a wonderful 2020 full of friends, stillness, health, hope, and, of course, grace

  8. Thanks for sharing your two posts on Grace. There are so many things I want to share, so let me try just a couple. I start each day with a great cup of coffee while I go into prayerful meditation. I focus on the spirituality of Christianity….love…peace and joy…faith…His faithfulness…grace, etc. I also work really hard at staying in the moment (so hard for a self controlling personality like mine)…not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, but enjoying the present moment. I trust in His faithfulness and have seen it at work throughout my life. I ask for His guidance for each day and go forward. By reflecting, praying and meditating each day, I slow down enough to see His work at play through me. Blessings to you!

    • I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on grace Kirt. I like your daily routine and admire your faith. I do some of those things, but faith has never strong for me so I try to focus on gratitude and being open to the grace of what I can’t define or control. Thanks for the blessings.

  9. It’s a wonderful word…feeling…way to live! I wish that for you, Brad…Grace and Hope! I know what you mean about being in quiet stillness. I have done a few things to turn down the noise in my life. One of the symptoms that lingers from my Lyme is tinnitus…sometimes the noise is so loud in my head that I can’t stand it if there is no noise outside of it (does that make sense?) But of late, I have needed to turn it all down and just BE with whatever is inside.
I hope that you will find your space…and your grace 😉

  10. Thank you very much for this great post! I really enjoyed reading it! I have recently published an article on the importance of hope and it’s role within society. If you have time, it would be great if you could check it out and let me know your thoughts! Thanks 🙂
