Fantastic Fungi

fanciful colors
freaky fungi growing art
nature’s mystery
~
This was a fungus I found growing along the trail at Lake Fayetteville, I have no idea what it is, other than beautiful and mind-boggling in it’s array of colors that looks like an abstract painting. Any fungi experts who can identify this blue goo? 🙂
Nature’s art is amazing! 🙂

Fungi is so amazing. Definitely one of the mysterious wonders and arts of nature in so many colors and varieties. Wonderful words to accompany what your present and wondrous eyes discovered. We have a form of fungi here called a snow plant or snow flower – Latin name Sarcodes – that is so lovely and looks like a tropical flower emerging from the ground. Love finding new forms of nature’s miracles.

Natural art. Who are we to question its beauty? Before reading your post, I stared at the photo trying to figure out what it was.

Perfect. That was my intent. I almost didn’t post the second photo. 🙂

Happy that you did. It emphasizes the importance of perspective. I thought it contributed perfectly to the post.

No idea what this is, but I love fungi too. It’s so funky! The shapes, colors, textures. So essential and elemental. And interesting.

Fungi are so helpful in so many ways that Paul Stamets knows! Love this merging of poem with fungi!

I also like freaky fungi, lichen, and moss, Brad. That is an unusual one, and I have no idea what it is. The haiku is perfect, my friend.

I love the colors. I wish I could offer some insights as to the type of fungus this is, but sometimes just appreciating the beauty is enough – or at least I try sometimes not to label everything and just marvel in the wonder. 😉
