Working for Peace

Working for Peacesilence, poetry, peace

Lasting peace begins within our hearts and minds.

We must learn to calm the inner storms, embracing the challenges within and without, remembering that we are all connected. There is no benefit to fighting or casting out any feeling, person, or experience. They are simply aspects of ourselves whether realized or not. As we learn to embrace all our experiences, we remember that love and peace are what truly matter. And the best way to bring peace to the world is by embodying peace in our words, actions, and being.

Love is the purest form of a soul at peace. ~ Matthew Donnelly

Then we make a difference in simply being and right actions that flow from a connected place of knowing what we do to anyone we do to ourselves. Meanwhile, we must start where we are. And sometimes the right action can lead our feelings toward better states.

The practice of peace and reconciliation is one of the most vital and artistic of human actions. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Here are some groups working for peace that I’ve found.

The key for me is not only that they want peace, but they understand that the way to create peace is to model peace in how they talk, write, and act, focusing on peace and what they want to accomplish. Focusing on the problem only adds to the problem.

1- Compassion Fayetteville

Compassion Fayetteville is a cooperative group working to promote compassion in our local community. Their mission is to advocate compassion in our community to enhance the quality of life for all. And their vision is to cultivate compassion in ourselves, our community and our world.

2- Peace Action

Peace Action is a national, grassroots organization committed to organizing a powerful peace movement. They are committed to transforming the world through political and community activities focused on several key issues; promoting peace, eliminating nuclear arms, advancing human rights, and building community engagement.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace. ~ Jimi Hendrix

3- Work for PeaceĀ

Work for Peace is an unusual and interesting organization. They focus on helping people find work and creating sustainable prosperity for citizens by partnering with employers to create better opportunities for work. Their belief is that employment is at the core of solving problems like poverty, homelessness, injustice, and more.

4- World Peace Org

World Peace Org. Their mission is to spread peace using prayers, words, and actions of unity and brotherhood. “May Peace Prevail” is both their primary goal and message. Their Peace Poles have been made and shared around the world for over 50 years. Currently, they are working with James Twyman to sponsor synchronized peace meditations called PeacePulse to help focus millions of people around the globe on building the energy of peace. The goal is to use the power of focused meditation to bring healing and peace.

May Peace Prevail!

  1. Love this peaceful theme. I’ve opened a couple of them in new tabs to see more about what they do. I hope you’ve been well. Congrats on the new job. It’s in the air. Husby is going back to work after a few years of working at home; my nephew found a summer job. They both start on Monday. Haha. Don’t tell me you start on Monday, too. You know, for introverts, marketing is actually not a bad path. I am the digital marketer for a school and it’s a part time gig but it is fulfilling and fun. It helps that the school’s premise is mindfulness. šŸ™‚ In any case, thinking of you and I know you’ll do great!

    • Ha, ha. Guess what Cynthia. I start on Monday! It must be in the air! Kudos on doing marketing with passion. I’ve been successful in sales when I believed in the products or services. This is simply a sales job to make money because I need to work and rebuild my saving. But I figure I can do it for a couple of years, then retire or do something purely fun.

  2. Thich Nhat Hanh’s words, vital and artistic, remind me how important and creative the process of peace is to all life. It is our responsibility to lovingly create peace in our minds and hearts and do what we can to spread peace like ripples in a lake. Thank you for doing your part, Brad. I know you will continue to bring peace to people you encounter.

  3. Psalms 37:10-11 reads the righteous will live in an abundance of peace. Having a clean conscience and doing what it right will lead to it. Notice too all evil will need to be done away with to have true peace. ā™”
