Silent Witness
~
injustice brings pain
healing with silent witness
peacemakers of love
~
This poem is dedicated to the peaceful silence that holds everything together. I believe protest, politics, and communication would all benefit from more peaceful approaches. Being a peaceful witness helps hold a space for love, connection, and solutions to emerge. Angry protesting has never resonated with me. I’m a peacemaker at heart, who is heartened to see this idea taking roots in peaceful protests around the world. Within days of seeing the image above, Ali at Flashlight Batteries shared her poem called Finding Fault to witness for peace and justice.
May we be loving, peaceful witnesses to injustice, holding a space for love and healing to occur. This is an invitation to share poems that witness; advocating and standing for equity, justice, and peace. #poemsofwitness
Peace out, BradΒ
I feel the same Brad, “angry protesting has never resonated with me” either. π

So well expressed, Brad. Hereβs to a society in which anger is an extreme, not an immediate, response.

Thanks for posting Brad. Your post comes at a time when I am being reminded ‘silence is golden’. How powerful these protesters are by exercising inner strength and resisting the urge to succumb to their base lower nature at a time of intense oppression! They inspire us all to exercise restraint and draw upon our greater inner strength and power. Namasteππ½

Resurrecting peace by peaceful methods is not only ideal but totally recommended.
How else will the greater populous understand what message is being conveyed?
A marvelous post. Thank you!

I could do this, and would like to. I might be tempted to sing or hum softly, but could do that in my head.

Wasn’t this used in the civil rights movement?

I’m not sure. It’s an ancient concept.

Absolutely true and I totally agree with this post of yours, Brad. Just like how Mahatma Gandhi did in India against the British and this is so nice instead of violence and blood shedding. Awesome words and post.

Thanks Kamal. There have been a few masters of this skill like Gandhi. May more of us join in the silent witnessing.
