Boulder Beauty

sandstone formations
primal eruptions in time
sirens of the earth

These famous rock formations near Boulder Colorado are part of a larger geologic event along the Rocky Mountains called the Fountain Formation. They are part of a vast chain of sandstone that erupted from the earth about 290 million years ago, well before the Rocky Mountains were formed. The Boulder Flatirons can be seen from almost everywhere in town and were part of my daily inspiration. I both miss and appreciate the beauty of these majestic rock formations. Thanks for the grand memories my sweet Boulder.

Beautiful haiku. You captured the feel of that formation wonderfully. Imagine all the power to thrust them up like that.

That’s fun to know about you living there too Kirt. The mountains really jump out and inspire me. When were you there? I was there from 91-94′.

I believe it was named that for all the red rock boulders and formations in the area.
