Playful Possibilities
~
playing I am free
full of joy in being me
Gypsy Brad is my name
play is our best game
~
once upon a silly hat
we had a very nice chat
bouncing up and down
like a cheerful clown
~
should you feel a frown
we can turn you upside down
or maybe that’s right side up
where joy bubbles like a pup
~
the true nature of life
need not be one of strife
this is the end of my poem
now it’s time to show them
~
Seeing this photo of me playing with my nephew a few years ago reminds me that I don’t have to take everything so seriously. This weekend I attended service at our local Center for Spiritual Living teaching center and enjoyed a delightfully silly (and insightful) talk on bringing the energy of play into our daily lives. If we are striving and efforting too much in our lives, it’s often a sign of being off track. Play can be a great way to relax back into the flow of life. Thank you to Bonnie, Willie, and Dr. Seuss for the reminders to play. Yippee! XD
All work and no play is not good. Its great seeing you smile. Don’t children bring it out in us.

Yes, it’s fun to play and children remind us to not be so serious. Now get out there and play! 🙂

Wonderful Cynthia.
I like to rhyme like you

Things are so crazy and so vicious right now in this country we most DEFINITELY need to reinvent play back into our lives. So few people smile and laugh anymore yet we do not even notice. Like the frog in a pot of boiling water. Time to revisit childhood again and free ourselves. Great pic Brad! Keep that smile on your face….VK 🙂 🙂 🙂

This is so true Brad. The wise have often said, if there is no play, there is no life. Thanks for the reminder with this poem (have always had a preference for the rhyming ones :))

Thanks Shruti. I enjoy rhyming poems too, though I’ve been in a rhythm with haiku lately. to playful poetry!

Awesome poem and fun picture. That reminds me of the saying, “don’t take life so seriously…nobody gets out alive, anyways.”
Alas, I admit I take it too seriously sometimes – I love life, I love living it and I take it “seriously” that I’ve just got one and I don’t have that long. So…I’m always trying to figure out what’s next…and sometimes what’s next is just…playing. 🙂

Thanks Cynthia. It’s probably good to mix serious and silly. 🙂

I love this joyful photo Brad.. and yes your poem reflects how we should not take life so seriously. But see the joy in family and live in that Moment of Now, having fun, laughter and Joy…
Keep spreading those playful possibilities my friend.. The world needs more playfulness.. 🙂

But now you are aware, Brad. Just don’t beat yourself up if you forget a little again…we have long held habits and it takes time to fully break them. Have a terrific Tuesday! ♡

Thanks Lorrie. Today’s post explains the bigger picture of why I’m being serious and hard on myself. Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂
