The Benefits of Music

My Christmas 1959

Music has always served to sooth my soul. Listening to music, I can boost my mood, revisit wonderful memories or revel in joyful feelings. Thankfully, no ghosts of Christmas past have visited this year. ๐Ÿ™‚ Research shows that music has many benefits, including boosting our memory, emotional state, learning, and much more. According to Daniel Levitin, a neuroscientist and composer, the brainโ€™s emotional, language and memory centers are connected while listening to music. Additional research shows that playing music lights up more areas of our brain than any other activity. Play that funky music and enjoy some Holiday Cheer!

  1. Merry Christmas to you, Brad! I just received my own Christmas gift in the form of music and family time last night. Partaking in our monthly family dining adventure at Disney, German cuisine was on the agenda last night at the Biergarten restaurant in Epcot. That was followed by a wonderful musical rendition of the Christmas story presented by the Candlelight Processional event, and topped off with a special holiday edition of the Illuminations fireworks show that was breathtaking, both literally and metaphorically. We didn’t come home with the Elsa ornament we were hoping for, but we did manage a few good family selfies and a host of memories that will last a lifetime ๐Ÿ™‚ May the spirit of Christmas and the holiday season fill you with joy, my friend ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Thank you for these Brad. Music seems to me at the heart of the season, expressing so much so beautifully. Perhaps we should listen to these songs whenever we feel the need, no matter what time of the year, so that we can bask in the memories they bring back. Hope you’re enjoying a Merry Christmas!

  3. All these videos are great. I’m listening to the Pentatonix one as I type this – I love a cappella. I hope you’ve had a great holiday season so far. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry I’m a little late in getting here – it’s been a busy few days with family and holiday, as I’m sure you can relate. Hehe. But so glad for you and for your blog here and sending you wishes for a fantastic week!
