garden goodness flows

flowers, fairies, rocks and streams

I had a little garden adventure before I left town. This was taken at our local Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, one of my favorite places to enjoy some flower and nature goodness. They feature a wonderful variety of flowers, bushes, trees and even vegetables to explore, plus many classes and events for nature lovers to enjoy.

The truth is I haven’t had adventures yet. I focused on driving and getting to my mother’s house as soon as possible. We did enjoy a wonderful Mother’s Day with my brother and his family. It was wonderful to spend time and acknowledge our mom in this way for Mother’s Day. Since then, my focus has been on helping her with as much as I can while I’m in town. I’ve even considered moving back to the area, but haven’t found any good options so far. This area is incredibly expensive, and my mother isn’t ready to share her house or give up her independence. I admire her gumption, yet worry about her health and ability to keep up with things. I guess time will sort things out.

Thanks for all the kind wishes for family and adventure.

  1. Happy you’re enjoying family in D.C. – my old stomping grounds. It’s very expensive to live there but also lots of work opportunities. Enjoy and keep your eyes open, something interesting may come up 🙂

  3. Brad – if you are still in the DC area, you may want to find Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, off Kenilworth Ave, SE DC. I don’t know how early their lotuses bloom, but when they do, it’s incredibly beautiful.

  4. I have similar issues with my dad who lives alone and refuses to move, so far. Thank goodness his neighbors and other angels keep watch over him. Glad you got to enjoy such beauty!

  5. There is something special to find a “favorite places to enjoy some flower and nature goodness” ~ I think the soul needs this, wherever we may be. Somewhere to sit, contemplate and realize that life is pretty good when we forget about the stress or worry. Have mom nearby is also a good remedy 🙂 Wish you continued ‘adventures’ in all shapes and forms Brad. Take care.

  6. Keep believing…and listening Brad. I am sure you will be guided on how to proceed. My Mom just turned 88…and she finds it so hard to ask or receive help…some people are just like that…think they have to go through this life alone…on their own terms. But deep down…sometimes her words don’t match her wishes…and I ignore what she says and go ahead and do what “I” think is right…and she is ALWAYS thankful. I’m not saying to ignore your Mom’s wishes…I’m just saying “maybe” she has a hard time accepting help…and we can all learn new things.
Blessings to you my friend…miss you here!! ♡♡
