Polly Wolly!

Polly Wolly!

ceramics, birds, fun, poetry

Polluelos ll by Belén Soto

this Polly does NOT like crackers

that’s nonsense from wackers*

Snickers bars bring me bliss

any birdbrain knows this

~

although we’re made of clay

we’re ready to dance and play

each day full of surprises

with delight in all that arises

~

now it’s time to bid adieu

I enjoyed bumbling through

may your day be full of food and fun

and wacky friends to share the pun

~

Her birth name is Polluelos ll, but she likes her new nickname. She and her creator, Belén Soto, just like to have fun!  🙂 What’s a bird to do? If you enjoyed this playful character, please visit Polly and her playmates on Belen’s website.

* Wackers is an urban term for enthusiastic people who overdo things, especially wanna be EMTs and fireman! Another urban definition is something out of alignment.

Here’s more silly word association from the song, Polly Wolly Doodle sung by Shirley Temple.

  1. Oh does this bring back memories! James is seven years older than I am and was born in 1935, a time when it was acceptable to give dolls to boys. After sometime after we married his mother gave me his original Shirley Temple doll. She was in a plastic bag as all her parts came come apart. So I put it in the closet and then years later after I became interested in antiques I ran across her and decided to see if I could get her repaired. I finally found a doll “hospital” close by and she has been restored. She has her orginial hair and dress but her shoes were missing, but they found some like she would have had. I adore Shirely and have put her in my daughter’s old room on top of a chiffarobe. Since she is such good condition now, she’s probably worth quite a bit of money, but I wouldn’t sell her for the world. Loved the fun of your post today, Brad!
    Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

  2. Hmm…I see that comment above…the whole bringing back memories…I have no recollection of Polly Wolly, but Shirley Temple? Okay, my parents used to make me watch old movies with Shirley Temple. Hehe.
Anyways, hope you’ve been well! Finally getting some moments this week to rekindle my blogging fire…a little. Haha.
