Awesome Stories 221- Mother’s Day Edition

This week Awesome Stories is dedicated to mothers everywhere.

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. ~ Kahlil Gibran

To my Mother, thank you for the gift of life, love, listening and much more. I’ve told you I love you in many ways over the years, but this week I dedicate my blog to you. I wish you were online to read it! I thank mothers, and anyone who has cared for, nurtured and helped raise a child. Your love, care and presence are the most precious gifts that we receive. Thank You!

Mother-Child Connections

Here is one of the most touching expressions of the special bond between mothers and their children that I’ve seen. So much love and tenderness are conveyed without any words in this video. You might want tissues! Enjoy.

The Power of Moms

Here is a good resource for mothers. When Sarem and April became mothers they didn’t find the resources they wanted to help them parent deliberately, so they started The Power of Moms. Their mission is to help mothers live and parent deliberately. They offer books, events, podcasts, classes and other resources focused in four main areas; taking care of you, organizing, parenting and connecting.

Ode to Momroses, love, Mother's Day

the family is fed

it’s time for bed

you give so much

with word and touch

~

sending my love across the miles

to bring you roses and smiles

may you find peace and fun

I’m grateful to be your son

Thank You – A Mom’s Song

A sweet and tender video that sounds like a lullaby for mothers!  Sweet dreams Mom.   🙂

Nurturing our Children

This is a beautiful post on parenting called Don’t Call Me a Good Parent. Sharon writes about not raising a child to do what others consider right, but what she believes will help her son become his best self. Her loving soul shines brightly in her words and spirit. I love her parenting values to nurture, guide and bring out the best in her son. I wish more parents, teachers and leaders were mindful of these values. Sharon’s post reminds me of the musing by Kahlil Gibran called On Children quoted at the top of this post.

A Mother’s Love

This is a beautiful video with touching words, vocals and music. A perfect celebration of mothers and all you do. Thank You!

Happy Mother’s Day!

P.S. I love you Mom, Brad

  1. Perhaps more than any other week, Brad, the title of your post rings so true – awesome. A mother can never be fully described or portrayed through words, music, or video – but your special collection of stories this week has come as close as is humanly possible. Well done, my friend 😉

  2. Thank you for your “water-works-warning” Dear Brad! I was smart enough to watch this before mascara application this time!! Wishing you a peaceful, nurturing day — perhaps spent in that gorgeous garden of yours?? xoxo

  3. I’m glad you’ve taken heed of my warnings Shauna! XD I find so much joy in your comments (and posts). Thanks for touching my life. And yes, I’ve been spending lots of time in my garden, tending and weeding, relaxing and appreciating. Have a beautiful Mother’s Day! Nurturers qualify too. 🙂

  4. Hi Brad, I thought I’d just come by and let you know that my Mother’s Day post was Freshly Pressed! 😀 Thanks so much for your kind words and support for my thoughts and writing. I always think that behind a fine man is a mother who had raised her son well. Your mom sure raised you up to be a fine man! Sharon
