Hummingbird Shuffle

Hummingbird Shuffle

Hummingbird Shuffle, poetry

sipping sweet nectar

dancing blossom to blossom

sooth my hungry soul

buzz, hover, shuffle

shimmering body of light

dance into my heart

I just found this fun video that presents a more whimsical view on the hummingbird shuffle. 🙂

  1. Hi Brad,

Lovely little poem! Hummingbirds have always fascinated me…they humor me every morning in my backyard and raise a myriad questions! And that crazy video is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing!

  2. You’re welcome Balroop. I love watching them too and am grateful that they’re visiting my garden this year without a feeder, simply flowers. I do wish I could get some photos, but they seem to be shy. 🙂

  3. You know that feeling when you’re passing someone in the hall and you both break the same direction? I saw something like that with a hummingbird and a honey bee at our hummingbird feeder recently. The bees sometimes come for a drink of sugar, too, and the hummingbird turned the corner, and then they did this incredible dance. I was amazed at how well the hummingbird could keep up. I’ve never seen two flying things move so fast! I thought the hummingbird was going to have the bee for lunch, but he just marked him closely for a few darting “bee lines”, and then the bee flew off.

  4. I love your poem, definitely conveys that little bit of magic those birds bring! I’ve never seen one of these in real life, as I don’t think they exist in England. They are nifty little things, make me think of fairies, with beaks! 🙂
