Heaven on Earth?

Heaven on Earth?Heaven on Earth, poetry, stewardship

boundless skies to stretch our imagination

fertile fields to feed our families

rivers to quench our thirst and wash our souls

a lush paradise to enjoy and protect

~

population, buildings and infrastructure growing out of control

choking our lands, rivers and ecosystems

gluttony, greed, power and ego

depleting resources, acidifying oceans, poisoning lands

~

will we wake up as conscious co-creators

or will we collapse as every civilization before us

unable or unwilling to moderate the ego desires

for common good, love and harmony

~

tune to the frequency of God

prepare our hearts with forgiveness

embrace all creatures, people and plants as one family

let’s become the stewards of heaven on earth

~

If you need any motivation to love our precious planet, this video is beautiful. I hope we wake up to how precious and how critical it is to start living in radically different ways that are not based on growth, consumption and resource depletion.

Here is one of the many articles pointing out the impossibility of growth as a continued model. George Minbiot states “the inescapable failure of a society built upon growth and its destruction of the Earth’s living systems are the overwhelming facts of our existence. As a result, they are mentioned almost nowhere. They are the 21st Century’s great taboo.”

Shall we wake up?

  1. What a spectacular video and motivating post. It is interesting for me to find it tonight. I attended a seminar last night with a holistic nutritionist. She had a lot of interesting things to say. I went grocery shopping with my kids today and looked around at the people and their carts and I was overwhelmed with what a big mess we have gotten ourselves into with the way we produce our food. We are poisoning the earth and ourselves and most people don’t even have a clue about GMO corn:( keep up the inspirational blogging.

  2. Thanks for caring Lisa. These are big questions and challenges. Sometimes I believe simply loving and working on our inner selves is enough and other times I believe that is simplistic, and the earth really needs us to step up. Yet ultimately, I believe if we harm the planet too much, we will disappear like dinosaurs or herds that are too large, but earth will repair and rebalance with time. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. There is also so much beauty in the world. Maybe if we just keep growing the beauty and love. Or maybe it’s all illusion like some spiritual paths claim, only a play/ projection of our minds. Questions, questions, but so few answers for me, so I go on with inspiration and hope. blessings, Brad

  3. Lovely, thought-provoking poem, Brad. Thank you for it.
And yes, the notion of our being stewards of the earth is so worthwhile. someone once said: “We don’t inherit the earth from our parents. We borrow it from our children.”

And the message is so important. I am like you where I wonder how can we make a difference…we work so hard to raise our own energy…to become enlightened beings…but what about our earth? I like to hope that with the accelerated time we are living in…that we can make a difference. Each and every one of us. It has to!! 🙂 Blessitude
