Good News 1.02

This is the second in my series on spreading Good News.

I decided to expand my search for good news beyond the environmental front. Please remember to find your own good news and share freely.

Spreading good news, inspiration

This blog made the rounds on Facebook. It captures 26 acts of kindness that help restore our faith in humanity. Numbers 2, 9, 11 and 21 are some of my favorites. How about you?

Construction on one of the world’s largest net zero buildings, called La Jolla Commons II in LaJolla CA, has begun. Hines says the tower will become carbon-neutral through a combination of directed biogas and fuel cell technology that will produce more electricity than the building consumes. One of the many innovations are the fuel cells, created by Bloom Energy, which will convert methane into electricity. This is the second project by Hines real estate company, the first was La Jolla Commons I, a LEED Gold certified building. They continue to use innovation to help reduce the environmental impact of their buildings and help CA meet it’s ambitious energy standards.

How about groups of swings that create harmonies when used cooperatively? That was the vision of the architects who built these swings in a Montreal city park. Enjoy the blog and video!

Sounds like science fiction, but researchers in England are working on biodegradable contact lenses that would help improve eyesight using stem cells within the contacts.

Next up, students at Clemson University created a hybrid car that not only seats six, but was built with off the shelf parts. If they can do it for about $30,000, maybe the car companies with millions in R & D can do it.

A selfless soul feeding and caring for the homeless in India. Watch this touching video about a man dedicated to helping the neglected people in his homeland.

And lastly, a big shout out to Delight Makers for their exciting Champions of Delight project to create a world built on love and delight, rather than fear and profit. Watch the video and see if you’d like to join.

Spread the good news to help bring more peace, love and joy into the world.
